Taurine is an essential amino acid necessary to maintain the health of cats.  Found naturally in meat muscle or fish or shellfish, it is usually added in small amounts to better quality commercial cat foods.

Lack of Taurine can cause enlargement of the heart chambers, a disease called Dilated Cardiomyopathy.  Blindness has also been attributed to lack of Taurine.  Taurine can be used as part of a treatment plan in either of these disease processes.

Dosage:  Average 1/2 teaspoon as needed mixed with food
