Vet Solutions PUPPY FORMULA is a nutritionally complete milk replacer to be fed as a nutritional supplement when the supply of bitch's milk is inadequate or as the sole ration for orphan puppies. When indicated, PUPPY FORMULA may be used to fortify the ration of bitches to help meet the increased nutritional requirements in late gestation and early lactation. Whenever possible puppies should receive colostrum (bitch's first milk) for the first 2 days, since this supplies antibodies essential to disease resistance in early life. Dosage and Administration: Mixing

Instructions: Prepare enough PUPPY FORMULA, with the enclosed measuring scoop, for use in a 24-hour period. Add 1 scoop (1 Tbsp.) per 2 scoops (1 ounce) of warm water. Stir or mix until smooth.

Feeding Instructions: Reconstituted PUPPY FORMULA solution should be fed at body temperature. Use of a nurser bottle is recommended. Feed puppies at least 2 tablespoons (30 mL) per 4 ounces (113 g) of body weight daily. Divide the daily feeding amount into equal portions for each feeding. For the first 4 days of feeding PUPPY FORMULA, the daily amount should be divided into 6 to 8 feedings. The number of feedings can then be gradually reduced to 4 per day (dividing the daily volumes into 4 equal parts). Puppies should be allowed to consume as much formula as they want during each feeding. Stool consistency provides a measure of the appropriate feeding level. If diarrhea develops, reduce the concentration of the solution (i.e. maintain water level but reduce the level of PUPPY FORMULA by 10-20% until stool consistency returns to normal). Should diarrhea persist, consult a veterinarian for advice.

Cleanliness of feeding equipment (nursing bottle/bowl) is extremely important. Always wash with hot, soapy water, rinse and dry well after each use.

Weaning Puppies: When puppies are old enough to lap, begin offering reconstituted formula in a shallow bowl. Wean puppies between 4-6 weeks of age. Mix equal parts of PUPPY FORMULA and weaning cereal or puppy food and add enough water to make a soupy gruel. Gradually increase the proportion of puppy food until puppy is on solid food. Ensure a source of clean water is always available.

Pregnant and lactating bitches: Feed 2 teaspoons (4 g) per 5 lbs. (2.2 kg) body weight until 2 weeks after whelping.
Growing Puppies, Show Dogs and Convalescing Dogs: Supplement regular ration with 1 teaspoons (2 g) of PUPPY FORMULA per 5 lbs. (2.2 kg) body weight daily. Precaution(s): Storage: Moisture and high temperature will degrade PUPPY FORMULA. Store sealed container at controlled room temperature. May be stored indefinitely in the freezer. Do not mix more than will be consumed within 24 hours. Reconstituted PUPPY FORMULA should be refrigerated.
